Want to put a face to a name? Meet our Sales Team member Stu., celebrating his fourth work anniversary at Plastic Solutions.
Stu, from our sales team is celebrating his fourth anniversary this February (2024). Although he is now part of the furniture, he started his journey with us just before COVID hit back in early 2020. Stu had a steep learning curve, jumping from 30 years in the leisure industry to portable sanitation overnight.
Within a few weeks of being in his new position, COVID “arrived”. Owing to movement and bubble restrictions the team were unable to work together in what was an unprecedented, busy time for the company. With a high demand for our sanitation products and a constrained number of people allowed at work, Stu volunteered to man the depot throwing himself into the deep end, learning product knowledge as he went along. The rest of the team worked relentlessly from home, manning the phones and feeding Stu with orders that he loaded up and shipped out to all corners of the UK and beyond. Stu certainly hit the ground running with products - sinks and waste tanks - flying out of the warehouse as soon as they were in stock. It gave a whole new meaning to ‘learning on the job’! The experience certainly paid off and Stu is now one of the key members of the sales team, with an in-depth understanding of each product and how it works.
Stu is a born communicator and likes to get to know his customers well, and thoroughly understand what they want to achieve. Stu carries out site visits and mans exhibitions, often equipped with wellies and a waterproof: this is Britain, after all! He enjoys nothing more than to understand the customers’ challenges and offer appropriate solutions. Whenever you call Plastic Solutions you’ll often get Stu on the phone giving out friendly advice and providing the best solutions for customers.
When asked what he most enjoys about his work, Stu replied:
‘I love talking to people, finding out what they do, what they want, and how I can help. I get a real sense of achievement when I know the product I’ve sold to them has made their project come to life. Sometimes people ask for a certain product but when I get to know their needs, I find there is a better way of doing things, which could be cheaper for them in the long run. I like happy endings like that, it makes it all worthwhile’.
In his spare time Stu is a keen caravanner and loves to try out sites across the breadth of the UK and abroad, whilst taking long walks in the country with his family and two rescue dogs. Not one to keep still, when back in the office after a weekend away, Stu ensures the depot bird feeders are full, keeps the warehouse (and warehouse manager) in ship-shape order and makes sure his team mates are happy with his expert tea and coffee-making skills.
Jon Trelfa, General Manager for Plastic Solutions added:
‘Stu is a well-liked member of the team and certainly adds another string to our bow with his operational experience and knowledge of portable sanitation from his caravaning knowhow. Congratulations on your fourth anniversary, Stu, and here’s to the next four, and beyond’.
